Heating can temporarily reduce relative humidity because warmer air can hold more water, but it does not remove the actual moisture. Adsorption dehumidification physically removes water from the process air, creating a stable, controlled environment.
This is particularly important for freshly blasted steel. Uncontrolled moisture can cause condensation, flash rust, abrasive agglomeration, blocked hoses and inconsistent blasting and coating quality.
A dehumidifier allows blasting, inspection and painting to be organised under controlled conditions, avoiding unnecessary repeat surface preparation.
The current Munkebo range includes the portable ZAM-5000D2 with a process-air flow rate of 5,000 m³/h and ZAM-8000D2 with a flow rate of 8,000 m³/h. The units provide corrosion protection during blasting, waiting periods and coating application.

Process air passes through a rotor that adsorbs moisture. During drying, the process-air temperature rises by approximately 20 °C. A separate regeneration-air stream is heated to more than 100 °C and removes the collected moisture from the rotor, enabling continuous operation.
The robust construction and portable frame are designed for demanding sites. The required ductwork and dry-air distribution are engineered to suit the volume, geometry and ambient conditions.
